The Psalmist declares: "Be still and know that I am God" (Psalm 46: 10). God, in our busyness, may our families have quiet moments in which they are still and reflect on your presence in their lives.
Grant us the ability Lord, to give our children the gift of good memories -
memories from which they can draw strength, joy and confidence -
memories upon which they can build loving and productive lives for themselves.
We want our children to remember the intimacy they felt when we gathered
together as a family to share a meal or to sit by the fire on a stormy night.
We want them to remember the pride they felt for one another at moments of
triumph and accomplishments at graduations, promotions and other times of
of attaining goals.
We want them to remember parents who hugged and kissed
and were never too old to hold hands.
We want them to remember both the turbulence and the tranquility,
the joys and the sorrows, the struggles and the triumphs of growing up.
We pray, Lord, that the memories we give our children
will make their lives not only more enjoyable but also more
meaningful and more loving.
